San Juan’s night in Jávea
This celebration is much more special when happening in Jávea, with the arrival of the summer solstice. This great city the Costa Blanca celebrates the Nit dels Fosc, a celebration declared with the title of Touristic Interest by the Generalitat of Valencia.
In contrast to the rest of the coastal villages, during the night of San Juan, the celebration takes part in the historic center. The night starts with the “Cremà dels Focs” and there are a lot of campfires situated in various places in the ancient castle. The tradition says that you have to visit every campfire and jump above them, carrying a garland of honeysuckles on the head, like a crown. When arriving to the last one, so the greatest one and made of old recipients, the crown gets thrown in the fire and a wish is requested at this moment.
