D * NA, Dénia Gastronomic Festival

 

 

On September 29 and October 1 Dénia will be filled with stars. More than 15 Michelin stars will attend D * NA, the Dénia Gastronomic Festival. A unique event organized by Quique Dacosta with the aim to make the city known as a touristic destination with a lifestyle where tradition, authenticity, culture and pleasure are combined.

 

D * NA will be a great gastronomic celebration with an intense program of activities. In Marineta Cassiana a 300 meters table will be installed facing the sea where the public will be able to find more than 30 stands where you can enjoy traditional dishes such as octopus, rice, pickles and of course the typical red shrimp with elaborations avant-garde. There will also be a space for Food Trucks and for producers and artisans where they will sell products from the Valencian Community such as food and crafts.

 

Moreover, two large venues will host Cooking Shows and Competitions among the invited chefs. There will be cooking workshops where local products will be the presented (rice, cocas, prawn, octopus, salted fish, sweets …). Leisure will also have its place with dj sessions, chill out, a space for the little ones (children’s kitchen, gymkanas), book corner…

 

Appointment with Michelin Stars

One of the main attractions of this festival is to be able to meet the most prestigious chefs in the country. D * NA will bring together twenty chefs with 15 Michelin stars who will demonstrate and discuss what is the involvement and contribution of the Mediterranean to the kitchens of the renowned chefs in the area. Among the chefs who have confirmed their presence are: Joan Roca (Celler Can Roca – 3 Michelin stars), the jury of Masterchef, Jordi Cruz (aBaC – 2 Michelin stars), the pastry chef Paco Torreblanca, Andoni Mugariz (Mugaritz – 2 stars Michelin), Manuel Alonso (Casa Manolo in Daimús – 1 Michelin star), Kiko Moya (L’Escaleta – 2 Michelin stars), Rafa Soler (Audrey’s), Ángel León (Aponiente – 2 Michelin stars), Alberto Ferruz Moraleda (BonAmb – 2 stars Michelin), Susi Díaz (La Finca – 1 Michelin star), Ricard Camarena (Ricard Camarena – 1 Michelin star), Nazario Cano (Hotel El Rodat), Mari Carmen Vélez (La Sirena), Miguel Barrera (Cal Paradis restaurant) , Rakek Cernicharro (winner of the Top Chef 2017 contest), Begoña Rodrigo (La Salita, winner of Top Chef 2015) and of course Quique Dacosta (3 Michelin stars).

 

Creative Cities of Gastronomy Networking Meeting

The aim of this festival is to raise intornational awareness of Dénia as a Unesco Creative City of Gastronomy, a recognition received in 2015 and only shared with 18 other cities around the world. 17 of these cities will be present at D * NA to exchange the good practices and customs of their food models. The cities that have confirmed their presence are: Popayán (Colombia), Tucson (United States), Belem (Brazil), Tsuruoka (Japan), Chengdu (China), Shunde (China), Macao (China), Florianópolis (Brazil), Parma (Italy), Östersund (Sweden), Bergen (Norway), Rasht (Iran), Zahlé (Lebanon), Gaziantep (Turkey), Jeonju (South Korea), Ancorada (Mexico), Phuket (Thailand) and of course Dénia the host.
